Curator of the exhibition: Wiesława Wideryńska
There are two important events in the world happening this year: celebration of the 500th anniversary of Leonardo Da Vinci’s death in Western Europe and the vernissage of Józef Wilkoń on the 52nd floor of the Złota 44 skyscraper in Warsaw
– said the host of the luxury apartment Złota 44, the Vice President of BBI Development, Rafał Szczepański – we all are fans of Józef Wilkoń and it is our honor to host the Master. When we invited Józef Wilkoń, we suspected that the acts presented by the Master in combination with our interior on the 52nd floor would make an electrifying impression, but what happened here has gone beyond our wildest expectations.
The last paintings of Józef Wilkoń – female acts – which were created using the newest technologies, became a pretext to glorify artist’s works. At the invitation of Złota 44 and in cooperation with Gallery Limited Edition, an idea to organize a unique event appeared. A private view, an unusual form of meeting that encourages dialogue between the audience and the artist, fits with the latest global trends of organizing exhibitions.
– The main inspiration for this event is the character of Józef Wilkoń – an outstanding personality for the Polish cultural heritage. The event enables to see new aspects in the works of Józef Wilkoń, who surprises audiences and gains more fans year by year. Wilkoń returned to acts after over 60 years, being open to various techniques at the same time. He paints naked, feminine bodies with his finger on the iPad. This is a phenomenon, I think even on a global scale, worth mentioning and promoting – emphasizes Iwona Staroszczyk, the owner of Gallery Limited Edition.
-After going through many stages and numerous artistic changes, Wilkoń is still actively working in the professional field, creating new projects. It was once said that Józef Wilkoń is infernally capable. It is true – he is a versatile artist, and no matter what medium he uses, he simply achieves success. – said Wiesława Wideryńska, curator of the exhibition.
– Acts arose from my head, from the imagination – said the master during the vernissage – I decided to return to the act, I usually answer that I wanted to give a prove of not forgetting how bare women look like – said Józef Wilkoń.
The extraordinary space of 600 meters square on the 52nd floor, from which there is a breathtaking panorama of Warsaw, was an integral part of this exhibition. It allows to fully experience the subtle beauty in its pure form. Since three years, the artist has been involved in digital painting, and created a series of works entitled “The act in the painting of Józef Wilkoń”. The works were published in a collector’s limited edition in Digigraphie technology. It guarantees the quality and durability of works
for decades. The digital technique allowed the artist to introduce a novelty from the borderline of painting and graphic art, as if the artist himself, using his impressive achievements, decided to break conventions and habits.
Józef Wilkoń is one of the most outstanding Polish artists dealing in illustration. His achievements in this field consist of nearly two hundred books, both for children and adults. His publications have been translated into more than 20 languages. The works of Józef Wilkoń can be seen, among others in Japanese museums and many private collections. The artistic achievements include several dozen collective exhibitions and over 60 individual exhibitions.
