I would like to present one of our last creative editorials, which we have produced recently with the clothing from “Luminous Shine of Eternity” ART collection in collaboration with a photographer from Ukraine- Irina Kurilo.
To start with, I would like to tell you a bit more about my collection & the thoughts which were build upon this editorial.
As a designer: I set the goal of presentingy my clothing as a piece of artwork. As for me, only art can awaken life.
For this collection, I’ve has been inspired by the rays of eternity and light in Ukrainian authentic culture. In my opinion, when traditions are alive – only then, the country can evolve and prosper. The main purpose behind this collection was to leave the dark side of Ukrainian history behind and conversely encourage faith in a brighter future.
External beauty of the Ukrainian people – has always intertwined with the internal” – as said by our ancestors. Therefore, most of the elements in Ukrainian costume had various of symbolisms and meanings that inspired me to work with historical ancient silhouettes from’ Kievan Rus’ and techniques from the 18th and 19th centuries, which were re-interpreted in a modern and avant-garde context. At the same time, avant-garde head pieces and richness of the details/embroidery in the collection- all sum up around the concept of future and prosperity of our countries.
The main techniques used in the collection were: traditional weaving, hand embroidery, luneville cou- ture embroidery, crochet embroidery, weaving with beads and sequins, working with 3d structures, creating pleating by hand – all of these techniques are included in the aesthetics of “YS” DNA.
Philosophy behind “YS” brand is to create clothing that express the depth and thought behind every detail. The main purpose of this collection was to leave the dark side of Ukrainian history behind and focus on the bright future of our nation.
The collection is created for those people, who perceive fashion as the universe of Art.
