OPEN CALL for PRINT 013 Issue, theme „UNSCRIPTED“  Deadline: October 11, 2026. 

The image does not always begin with intention, sometimes it forms in the space where control loosens, where timing overtakes composition, and where the frame captures more than it can contain.

UNSCRIPTED is the theme of our Autumn–Winter 2026 print issue. We invite photographers, painters, performance artists, installation artists, and image-makers of all kinds to respond to this theme.

We are looking for work that holds tension, presence, and unpredictability. We are drawn not only to the captured moment, but to work where the process, the material, or chance itself leads the artist toward a result that could not have been planned in advance. Staged or not, what interests us is whether the work carries the feeling of something uncontrolled, where construction disappears into presence, and what remains looks like it could not have been planned, even if it was.

Who can apply, open to artists worldwide, at any stage of their career. No agency or gallery representation required.

What to submit,  up to 12 works or one cohesive series. Images as JPEG, resolution / min 2000px on the long edge, and/or a link to a portfolio or website. Include a short project statement of up to 150 words and a brief artist bio.

What selected artists receive, selected projects will appear in the Autumn–Winter 2026 printed edition of PURPLEHAZE.

Rights,  by submitting, you grant PURPLEHAZE non-exclusive rights to reproduce selected work in the issue and in exhibition-related materials. All other rights remain with the artist.

Selection and timeline, work is reviewed by the PURPLEHAZE editorial team, following a separate review timeline from our general submissions. Deadline: October 11, 2026. Selected artists notified by 15.10.2026. Exhibition date and venue to be announced.

Also accepted for the print issue: beyond the theme, we welcome fashion editorials and art projects for our other sections.

GENERAL SUBMISSIONS FOR WEB & IG FEATURES 

Submissions to PURPLEHAZE are always free and considered equally for publication. Standard publishing placement is currently approximately 4–6 weeks due to our active editorial queue.

We review fashion and beauty editorials, photography, art projects, and visual stories that align with the magazine’s conceptual direction and aesthetic. Submissions should demonstrate visual coherence, intentional sequencing, and a clear narrative or conceptual point of view.

For fashion and beauty editorials, we require unpublished, exclusive material featuring multiple designers or brands. Mono-brand editorials, campaigns, lookbooks, and collection-focused submissions are considered commercial or advertorial content and are handled separately.

For art and photography projects presented as part of an artist’s own practice, previously shared work is welcome, including work already shown on the artist’s own social media. A post on your own account does not count as prior publication.

We also consider selected press and editorial pitches, including exhibitions, interdisciplinary projects, performances, books, cultural events, and collaborations between fashion, art, photography, design, and sound. These are reviewed separately from standard submissions and may be considered editorially at the editors’ discretion when there is a broader cultural, artistic, or conceptual context. Brand-led projects may be considered within this category when the story extends beyond the promotion of a single collection or product.

Optional, for social media consideration: alongside your final images, you are welcome to include a short behind the scenes clip or process photo from the shoot (phone footage is perfectly fine). This is not required for editorial selection, but work accompanied by process material is given priority for features on our Instagram and web channels.

Selected projects will be scheduled for web and digital publication following editorial approval. Please refer to our full Submission Guidelines for detailed requirements.

At the initial stage, preview images and draft credits are sufficient. If selected, the editorial team will follow up with detailed technical and credit specifications. Please submit via a Google Drive link with clearly organised files and direct viewing access.

Editorial Review

All submissions are reviewed through a merit-based editorial process. Selection is based on conceptual strength, originality, visual quality, and alignment with PURPLEHAZE.

Publication is never conditional on payment.

A limited number of extended editorial and commercial formats are available for selected artists, projects, and brands seeking expanded print or digital visibility. These are entirely independent of the editorial selection process and are offered only after a project has been reviewed.
