Lena Hoschek Artisan Partisan AW 20/21

Lena Hoschek Artisan Partisan AW 20/21

Berlin, January 15th 2020 – In Autumn/Winter 2020 Lena Hoschek will go on a special
world
tour. With a bohemian mix of folklore and artisanal materials, the
dressmaker combines different
ethnic influences with fabrics from all over the
world. We will experience a collection that artfully
blends different cultures and
traditions.
The designer’s wonderful journey begins in Vienna – the city that, along with Paris,
was considered the fashion metropolis of the Empire period. Back then, the
Viennese scarf was all the rage, its Persian paisley in a fine silk/wool blend
decorated with hand-knotted fringe.

Inspired by this 18th-century must-have, still produced in the same way in a
Viennese silk-weaving mill, Lena Hoschek had magnificent paisleys woven for her
collection. Lena’s path continues across the Balkans to Anatolia, where Pakistani
ikat silks and Persian pomegranate decorations enrich her designs. Moldavian rose
kilim patterns, almost Baroque in their design, adorn prints designed exclusively
for the collection. Inspired by an Oriental spice bazaar, the designs take on a colour
palette from One Thousand and One Nights. A short detour takes the designer
to Lake Como – a region already considered the capital of European silk in the 17th
century – where she will buy paisley silks from a silk-tie manufacturer and
transform them into spectacular couture gowns.

Adding fabrics from Spain to her luggage, she travels on to France. Once there,
she has antique fabric patterns turned into picturesque fabrics embroidered with
arabesques. German milliner Fiona Bennett’s stunning hat creations and Austrian
designer Silvia Gattin’s extraordinary kilim boots ensure a perfect look from head
to toe.

A CLOSET FULL OF SKELETONS Fábio M Silva’s new collection ‘MATRIARKA’ launch event

A CLOSET FULL OF SKELETONS Fábio M Silva’s new collection ‘MATRIARKA’ launch event

To launch their upcoming 4th fashion collection MATRIARKA, artist provocateur Fábio M Silva collaborated with actor and director Ariel Nil Levy on a new experimental performance piece – A CLOSET FULL OF SKELETONS – which will premiere on October 4th, 2019.

”This collection takes inspiration from Portuguese traditional costumes and elderly women, through a utopian lens where matriarchal figures are not necessarily cisgender females. Patterns and prints are deconstructed and reconstructed into contemporary genderless pieces”

The launch event will feature the politically charged situational comedy performance A CLOSET FULL OF SKELETONS, synopsis below:

“Somewhere on a rip of the space-time continuum, iconic post gender seamstrex kunstler(ette) FÁBIO ‘MATRIARKA’ SILVA and hyper-sexualized post human psychoanalyst of Berlin’s club scene ANALI GOLDBERG have A CLOSET FULL OF SKELETONS… and chickens, and sewing patterns, and phalluses, and witch soup, and very used breasts, and embellished truths, and all other sorts of matriarchal goodies.

Sharing a decrepitly luscious WG since before the dawn of time, the two co-habitants have lived everything there is to live, and smelled everything there is to smell, and know everything there is to know, except the reasons why men come so early and why the frozen fish department is closed on Fridays. Their equally flamboyant staunch neighbours love to pop over unannounced for psychedelic herbal tea and impromptu musical numbers. Get ready for an evening full of ohs, wows, ahs, ews, uhs, and moos, where past, present and future are no more than heteronormative conspiracy theories and schnitzel is a dish best served as dessert.”

The event will take place at Pride-Art Ateliers, the new gallery and studio of German painter Lars Deike, featuring guests Olympia Bukkakis, Catalin Jugravu and Jake Indiana,  with drinks kindly sponsored by Fountain of Youth, Berliner Winter and Gentle Gin.

The full collection „MATRIARKA“ will be available for pre-order at the event and online the following weeks.

Address: Wiesenweg 1-4, 10365 Berlin
Doors: 21:00
Entrance: Donation based

Dystopia: Man will download his consciousness in dreamlike forms, remnants of a lost natural state.Once disappeared, the man will only exist through relics piously maintained by machines.
The question of the trace left by our existences, acts, civilizations, is prominent at the beginning of this century. Jean-Francois Réveillard by working on relics, artifacts, pictures them in natural environment scene, reference to the question of art and its persistence in the time scale.

Jean-Francois Réveillard (JfR): Serie RELIQUIAE. 2019.

Beside the simple act of creating to update new concepts, showing how do they integrate into nature, once their creator is gone, the question is: remain they alive, and do they still have a place in possible futures ?
Art and its necessity as a message or as an artifact, in a future where man gradually loses his place on the planet ? The work proposed here through RELIQUIAE 2019 takes a look toward at civilizational emergency.
