A CLOSET FULL OF SKELETONS Fábio M Silva’s new collection ‘MATRIARKA’ launch event

To launch their upcoming 4th fashion collection MATRIARKA, artist provocateur Fábio M Silva collaborated with actor and director Ariel Nil Levy on a new experimental performance piece – A CLOSET FULL OF SKELETONS – which will premiere on October 4th, 2019.

”This collection takes inspiration from Portuguese traditional costumes and elderly women, through a utopian lens where matriarchal figures are not necessarily cisgender females. Patterns and prints are deconstructed and reconstructed into contemporary genderless pieces”

The launch event will feature the politically charged situational comedy performance A CLOSET FULL OF SKELETONS, synopsis below:

“Somewhere on a rip of the space-time continuum, iconic post gender seamstrex kunstler(ette) FÁBIO ‘MATRIARKA’ SILVA and hyper-sexualized post human psychoanalyst of Berlin’s club scene ANALI GOLDBERG have A CLOSET FULL OF SKELETONS… and chickens, and sewing patterns, and phalluses, and witch soup, and very used breasts, and embellished truths, and all other sorts of matriarchal goodies.

Sharing a decrepitly luscious WG since before the dawn of time, the two co-habitants have lived everything there is to live, and smelled everything there is to smell, and know everything there is to know, except the reasons why men come so early and why the frozen fish department is closed on Fridays. Their equally flamboyant staunch neighbours love to pop over unannounced for psychedelic herbal tea and impromptu musical numbers. Get ready for an evening full of ohs, wows, ahs, ews, uhs, and moos, where past, present and future are no more than heteronormative conspiracy theories and schnitzel is a dish best served as dessert.”

The event will take place at Pride-Art Ateliers, the new gallery and studio of German painter Lars Deike, featuring guests Olympia Bukkakis, Catalin Jugravu and Jake Indiana,  with drinks kindly sponsored by Fountain of Youth, Berliner Winter and Gentle Gin.

The full collection „MATRIARKA“ will be available for pre-order at the event and online the following weeks.

Address: Wiesenweg 1-4, 10365 Berlin

LOVE LIBERATION, Exhibition by Marat Mukhonkin

LOVE LIBERATION, Exhibition by Marat Mukhonkin
LOVE LIBERATION
Exhibition by Marat Mukhonkin
Curated by Irina Rusinovich
Berlin, Germany — LOVE LIBERATION is a brand new exhibition by Moscow-born
fashion photographer Marat Mukhonkin. This time the artist explores different
angles of human sensuality that could be only met by chance. Fleeting moments,
poses and glances captured in the nude photographs — is it voyeurism to look at the
images that are so extracted from the context or rather a witness? Marat leaves the
answer to the viewer, inviting us to enjoy the world of untainted senses and higher
aesthetic pleasure.
Marat Mukhonkin, the artist:
“Can a tender, sensual touch, the one that comes invisibly but imprints on the soul
be a proper responsible action? No, it can’t — everything that carries romance and
sweetness is wonderful because it’s a game of chance; all the rest is born out of
violence towards oneself, one’s partner and human as a whole. The works I want
to represent within the project have a very specific touch — it’s about a fraction of
a second, a pure emotion that is yet free from the desire for power. An impulse can
never be obliging, thus it’s so irresistible.”
About the Artist:
Born in Moscow in 1981. Entered the Faculty of Philology (Moscow State Pedagogical University) in 1998. Marat took up studio photography at the age of 17 — at 19 he started collaborating with modeling agencies as a freelance photographer. In 2003 the artist first worked with a fashion
edition — NRG Magazine. From 2004 till 2019 Marat Mukhonkin has collaborated with dozens of glossies, among which are L’Officiel, Vogue, Instyle, GQ, Mini Glamour, Playboy, Purplehaze Magazine, Moulin Rouge, L-Optimum, Maxim and many other editions. On the record of the artist there are three solo exhibitions: L’Oréal Paris beauty show (2008), Show Package President Model Management (2011), Bosco Donna solo show (2014), let alone group exhibitions in museums and galleries and numerous publications in both print & online magazines.

Art Installation by Maksim Chernykh „MODERN SLAVERY“

Art Installation by Maksim Chernykh
MODERN SLAVERY
Opening Reception
THURSDAY 26 th of September from 18.00
At the SCHLOSSHOTEL Berlin by Patrick Hellamann
Brahmstrasse 10, 14193 Berlin
CURATOR | Irina Rusinovich

Berlin, GERMANY — August 26, 2019 — PURPLEHAZE FASHION & ART
MAGAZINE in partnership with PATRICK HELLMAN SCHLOSS HOTEL proudly
presents a debut exhibition of an emerging artist, Maksim Chernykh. An art
installation entitled Modern Slavery opening to the public September 26,
2019. The project reflects the artists idea of the difficulties of the modern
world, on how people find it diffuclut to drop their duties and snackles and
follow thier inner voice and dreams so they can be happy. Artist, Maksim,
about his idea behind his installation -“ Many of my friends
and acquaintances spend most of their time at work, with short breaks for
vacations and, if they’re lucky, weekends. It applies to everyone, regardless
of whether they earn a lot and have a very good income, or can scarcely live
on it. Whether rich or poor, modern people are sinking into work, doing as
many projects as possible, dedicating every minute of their time to making
money. We, people of the 21st century, think naively, there is no more
slavery; but almost every one of us is tied up. They are invisible shackles,
but their burden is heavy. The modern rhythm decreases our alertness, we
have to hurry, work, do, do. We do not need a guard with the whip, no, there
are unpaid bills, loans, mortgages, debts, etc. That scares us, we are afraid
to quit work that we do not enjoy, to take time out and the heart and let the
soul decide what we should do as a profession.
This vicious circle of life I want to represent with my art installation.
ABOUT the ARTIST
Maksim Chernykh was born in Russia in 1988 and studied costume design at
the Moscow College of Arts and Industry and completed his studies in 2014
with a Bachelor of Design with distinction. During his studies he was able to
create complete looks. His collections have always been characterized by
creativity and theatricality, as interesting paintings, architecture and artwork
have always inspired him. In 2014, he participated in Moscow Fashion Week
with his collection. In the same year he won the first place in the competition
for young designers. In 2015 he decided to move to Germany in order to
develop professionally. In 2017 he started his studies at the TU Berlin
master’s program Bühnenbild_Szenischer Raum. In 2018 he took part in the
exhibition at the TU with his installation. In 2019 he designed sets and
costumes for the production of „Die Fledermaus“ by Strauss at the Academy
of Music Hanns Eisler in Berlin.
